More than Scars

It was one of those times in worship when it seemed all Heaven wrapped its hands around my heart. Embracing every beat in tender care, each pulse was noticed by the One who knows everything about me, yet loves me still.

My heart cried out from deep within. Oh, Lord. I cannot wait until the day when I can kiss the scars and holes in your hands! I want to kiss the very places that were pierced so I could be forgiven and free.

Still on my knees with hands raised and tears dripping off my face, Heaven responded with words, beyond words. It was an unexpected visitation of… knowing… that stirred and quieted all within.

Mary, it took ALL of me to have All of you.

These words, beyond words, still silence my thoughts. I understood in a way that is difficult to describe.

It took more than scars from nail pierced hands and side. It took offering his entire spirit, his entire soul, and his entire body. He could have called ten-thousand angels to deliver, but he chose to stay on the cross out of love for you and me. He loved us at our worst, so we could enjoy being loved with his best.

It took ALL of Jesus to have All of me.

It took ALL of Jesus to have All of you.

May our hearts respond…

Lord, you gave your All

to have all of me.

I give my all

to have all of you.
