Winter Past

To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven
— Ecclesiastes 3:1

Dreams are stirring…

Listen carefully and you might hear

seeds crackling below the surface.

Did they die? Yes.

Yet now they live and sprout

And push through the thawing ground still frozen yet warm

The earth is silent as it submits and yields to growth within.

Sunlight stretches forth its fingers past the seen

and into that which is hidden.

Light pierces the darkness.

Unafraid,

its warmth stirs hope.

Its shining draws upward.

It is time to peek through the soil

and dare to believe

that God will protect the tenderness

of this growth

and keep it alive
