Freed from Debtor’s Prison

What appeared to be the end of the story ended up becoming one of his finest chapters.

Musician and composer, George Friedrich Handel, despaired as he experienced difficulty upon difficulty. He suffered a stroke that left his right arm and hand paralyzed, and his vision became blurry. He could no longer perform musically which meant his finances dried up; he was left with an insurmountable mountain of debt. His future appeared dark and bleak as he faced an impending Debtor’s Prison.

Something happened in the dark night of soul when there seemed to be no way out. He was hired to compose a musical score for a charity performance which would be Handel’s final work; Or so he thought! What appeared to be the end of the story ended up becoming one of his finest chapters.

George Friedrich Handel wrote Messiah during the summer of 1741. He wept after finishing The Hallelujah Chorus and told his servant, that he had seen visions of angels. Messiah became an overnight success.

Instead of going to Debtor’s Prison, proceeds from the concert freed 142 men from Debtor’s Prison.

Dear Reader, my desire is that this will inspire hope. The same God who helped George Friedrich Handel is the same God who is there with you. May the sounds of Heaven invade your world in such a way that you experience new found freedom that, in turn, brings freedom to countless others.

And now for your listening enjoyment, Messiah by Handel.

Hallelujah! for the Lord God Omnipotent Reigneth Revelation 19:6
